Wildland fire chars almost an acre in San Andreas

Engines from San Andreas Fire Protection District, Cal-Fire and Mokelumne Hill Fire Protection District were dispatched at 2:41 p.m. June 28 to a report of fire in vegetation between Highway 49 and the town’s Catholic cemetery.

Crew members from San Andreas Fire Engine 168 carried a hose line up the slope of the hill and were part of a successful effort to contain the fire before it reached the top. San Andreas Fire Chief Don Young reported that the fire charred just under an acre. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

San Andreas Fire Protection District Water Tender 169 was also deployed to this incident and provided water to engines on scene.
